The last race of the year took place at Arden Sailing Club, near Defford on Sunday
which saw a very fluky wind which was getting stronger as the 4 lapped race took
place. With a clean start by 7 competitors, Niall and Jane in the green Enterprise
reached the 1st mark and sailed away from the rest of the fleet, mean while David
Bryden in his Heron fell further back. With Alan Browning in his Solo going for
an early bath during his 3rd lap in front of the starer box to give the spectators
some excitement, but with his capsizing skills improving he was soon underway again.
The overall results where:- Niall and Jane (Enterprise) 1st, Ralph Evans (Solo)
2nd, Alan Salerman and Malcolm Collage (Enterprise) 3rd, Stuart and David Stephen
(Enterprise) 4th, Keith Stevens (Comet) 5th, Alan Browning (Solo) 6th and David Bryden
(Heron) 7th. While the racing was going on new trainee Julian was out sailing in
the club comet getting more practice and experience.
The next race will be on New Years Day weather and Hangovers permitting, a dip in
the river at this time of year may not be recommended but it sure is an effective
cure for a hangover.
