Never sailed before?

Arden Sailing Club is a Royal Yachting Association Training Centre and has good training resources and lots of experience at helping newcomers into the sport. Some people prefer to enrol on one of the Club's regular sailing courses; others simply join the Club and rely on the help and guidance which members readily give. Safety is the most important consideration and newcomers quickly get to learn the best way to start, and are backed up by friendly and encouraging advice as appropriate.

Do I need a boat ?

Not necessarily. The Club has a small fleet of sailing dinghies that are available for members to use at nominal cost. Also, there are opportunities to crew for existing club members. The Club is pleased to accept any class of boat up to 14ft, The most popular boats currently are Enterprises, Comets, Solos, G.P.14s, Graduates and Mirrors. Boats such as these can be picked up surprisingly cheaply - for as little as £300.00 to £500.00. - though some renovation may be required.

Dinghy Racing?

A programme of 'class' and 'handicap' races is provided, chiefly on Sundays, throughout the season, and the Club has several skilled helmsmen to compete against. Inter-club events are arranged each year and the Club takes part in the Saundersfoot Sailing Club's Regatta in the week on from the Spring Bank Holiday.

What can the Club offer younger members?

Youngsters love sailing! There is plenty to do; opportunities to crew for other members, and perhaps, helm the Club's boats given the right conditions and with necessary experience.

N.B It is regretted that Dogs are not allowed on to the Club Site.
